Dilip Gupta my father left India at the age of 21yrs,to far away America to study cinematography in New York.He enrolled himself at the New York Institution of photography.He was the first boy in the family to go so far away from home.Other boys from the family went for higher studies to U.K. so the Family was very anxious when he was leaving home for such a far away country.The entire Dutta gupta family which is huge,gathered together to bid him farewell.It was in the year 1932 or 1931.He was the first Indian to go to the U.S.A.to study cinematography,and gather practical knowledge from working in Hollywood Studios,under great masters like Virgil Miller,Dunford,Victor Milner CharlesLamb and the last but not the least He was trained by the very famous Walt Disney for Animation & cartoons.When he left America Walt Disney gave him a hand drawn farewell card with The three little pigs, Goofy,& Micky mouse singing a farewell song for his beloved Dil.Disney called my father fondly by this name.
